Have you ever wondered how people like J Lo or the Kardashian sisters get their amazingly small waist and curvaceous backside with great curves? Sometimes there’s a ‘behind the scenes trick’ to why celebrities, influencers and movie stars have such beautifully proportioned bodies – liposuction and Brazilian butt lift surgery.
Since 2005 Dr Gavin Chan (MBBS, Cosmetic Physician, Liposuctionist) has successfully performed thousands of full body transformations with liposuction. He explains that his patient Shelly was self-conscious about areas of her body that were genetically bigger than what she desired.
Despite regularly exercising and maintaining a healthy diet, Shelly couldn’t reduce these areas so decided to undergo a surgical full body transformation. She notes, “I’m really concerned about my stomach and my hips. That’s where I seem to carry a lot of the weight. Another concern for me would have to be my arms; I feel like I have no shape. I don’t necessarily want to be skinnier; I just want to be more sculpted. Shape-wise I love the Kardashian look with a smaller waist and bigger curved buttocks.”
Dr Gavin Chan explains, “Liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lift surgery is about getting the shape and ideal curves that makes someone more attractive. It’s not necessarily skinny, which makes you attractive, it’s having the right proportions and the right ratios.”
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical procedure that uses your own fat to enhance your buttocks. This surgery aims to improve the shape, size and voluptuousness of the buttock area. Brazilian Butt Lift surgery only uses your own fat via liposuction – a surgical procedure that corrects disproportionate fat deposits in the body that can’t be reduced via exercise and diet alone. These fatty deposits are usually genetically acquired. Liposuction surgery requires a general anaesthetic and involves a very diluted local anaesthetic being infiltrated into the treatment area. Once this area is numb, a cannula passes through to remove the body fat.
Brazilian Butt Lift surgery doesn’t use artificial implants like traditional breast augmentation surgery. It only removes fat from the areas of your body that you’d like to reshape and re-implants it into your buttocks. Performed by Dr Gavin Chan, Brazilian Butt Lift surgery reduces fat in your’ problem areas’ and redistributes it into your buttocks to give you an attractive hourglass shape.
What happens during a full body transformation and Brazilian butt lift procedure?
Before Shelly’s surgery, Dr Gavin Chan marked up her body – like a roadmap. These marks are used during the liposuction procedure to indicate where the fat needs to be removed. During a full body transformation, all the fat that has been removed can be re-used to shape and enhance the body and lips. This fat is administered much like dermal fillers are but with a slightly larger gauge cannula.
Dr Gavin Chan notes, “One of the key advantages of using fat in the face instead of dermal filler is that it lasts a long time. Since it’s your own fat, the stem cells in there will help regenerate the area we place them in, so they last for an eternity.”
The liposuction procedure is performed using a MicroAire® Power Liposuction Cannula, which oscillates back and forth, making a more natural path for the cannula to pass through. Any fat removed is suctioned through a tube where its harvested into a sterile canister. This is then transferred into the buttocks.
Dr Gavin Chan notes, “The pressure we use for the liposuction is very low because we want to preserve all the fat and stem cells as best as we can. With a small vacuum and minimal pressure, we can maximise the chance of fat survival.
The areas of Shelly’s body that had liposuction performed on them include:
- Neck and jowls
- Waist and hips
When Dr Gavin Chan injected Shelly’s fat into her buttocks, he inserted it very slowly. He noted, “I do this very slowly, so I don’t disturb the fat too much and possibly destroy it. For the best results, injections need to be done at different planes of the buttocks by using as much fat as possible. We tend to put in substantial amounts as our patients want to get the maximum effect from this procedure. The ideal shape for a Brazilian Butt Lift is an upside heart where the heart point is at the sacrum.”
3 months after a full body transformation and Brazilian butt lift procedure
After Shelly’s full body transformation liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, she said the first couple of days were the hardest. She notes, “I was pretty swollen, sore and stiff and found it hard to move. I had help at home for the first few days. After the first week, these symptoms eased off, and I started to get more movement and independence.”
Shelly’s complete change in her body shape made her feel more confident and enabled her to wear clothes she’d always avoided. Gone are the days of wearing loose-fitting tops and baggy pants. Shelly can now proudly wear tight-fitting tops and skirts and show off her beautiful hourglass, curvaceous shape.
